Time Difference Between India and Australia

Because Australia is so wide, it is split into:

1. AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time): Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane.
2. ACST (Australian Central Standard Time): Adelaide, Darwin.
3. AWST (Australian Western Standard Time): Perth.

Australia is located to the East of India. Because the Earth rotates from West to East, the sun rises in Australia first. Therefore, Australia is always 'ahead' of Indian time.

During normal non-summer months (April to September), the differences are:

• Sydney/Melbourne (East): They are 4 hours and 30 minutes AHEAD of India. (If it is 12:00 PM noon in Delhi, it is 4:30 PM in Sydney).
• Adelaide (Central): They are 4 hours AHEAD of India. (12:00 PM in Delhi = 4:00 PM in Adelaide).
• Perth (West): They are 2 hours and 30 minutes AHEAD of India. (12:00 PM in Delhi = 2:30 PM in Perth).

During the Australian summer (October to April), states in the East and South (like Sydney and Melbourne) turn their clocks forward by 1 hour to save daylight. India does not observe DST.

• During this period, the time gap between Sydney/Melbourne and India increases to 5 hours and 30 minutes.
