Normally, when you send a text, photo, or voice note to someone on WhatsApp, it stays on their phone forever unless they manually select and delete it. When you turn ON the Disappearing Messages feature for a specific chat, you set a timer (like 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days). Once the time limit passes, every single message sent in that chat will automatically delete itself from both your phone and the other person's phone. No traces are left behind.

1. Strict Privacy: If you are sharing highly sensitive information (like bank account details, a secret password, or personal photos), this feature ensures the receiver cannot keep a permanent record of it on their phone.
2. Saving Phone Memory: Huge group chats are filled with hundreds of useless 'Good Morning' photos and joke videos that quickly fill up your phone's storage. Turning this feature on automatically cleans the trash, saving massive amounts of memory space.

While the message deletes itself automatically, you must still be very careful. Before the 24-hour timer runs out, the receiver can easily take a Screenshot of the chat, forward the message to someone else, or take a physical photo of their screen using another camera. Therefore, never send dangerous or illegal material, even with this feature turned on.
