Vibhats Ras (वीभत्स रस) — Paribhasha aur Udaharan

Vibhats Ras (वीभत्स रस) is one of the nine Rasas (Navarasa) in Hindi and Sanskrit poetic tradition. The word 'vibhats' means disgusting or repulsive. The permanent emotional state (Sthayi Bhava) of Vibhats Ras is Jugupsa (जुगुप्सा) — extreme disgust or aversion. This rasa is evoked when a poet vividly describes something revolting — such as rotting flesh, worms, filth, blood, or horrifying sights. Vibhats Ras is the polar opposite of Shringar Ras. It was first classified by Bharata Muni in the Natyashastra as one of the original eight rasas (Ashtarasa).
