The Sabarimala pilgrimage is one of the world's largest annual human gatherings. Pamba is the base camp from which pilgrims trek to the sacred Ayyappa temple.
The Sabarimala pilgrimage attracts approximately 40–50 million pilgrims annually, making it the second largest pilgrimage in the world after the Hajj to Mecca.
