Mrs. Annie Pearson is a tired housewife who does everything for her ungrateful family. Her neighbour Mrs. Fitzgerald suggests they swap souls (personalities) to teach the family a lesson.

After the swap, Mrs. Fitzgerald (in Annie's body) boldly refuses to cook, iron, or clean. She tells off the rude children, ignores the husband, smokes, plays cards, and speaks her mind firmly.

The family is shocked. They have never seen 'mother' like this. They begin to realise how much they have been taking her for granted.

At the end, the souls are swapped back. The family promises to treat Mrs. Pearson with more respect, cook for her, and genuinely help around the house.

The play strongly argues that women's domestic work is undervalued. It uses the role-reversal technique (soul swap) to force the family — and the audience — to see the mother's perspective. It is a feminist social satire.
