SGPT (सीरम ग्लूटामिक पाइरुविक ट्रांसएमिनेस) एक महत्वपूर्ण एंजाइम है जो मुख्य रूप से हमारे लिवर (यकृत) में पाया जाता है। SGPT टेस्ट लिवर के स्वास्थ्य की जांच करने के लिए किया जाने वाला एक सामान्य ब्लड टेस्ट है।
अक्सर डॉक्टर लिवर की पूरी स्थिति जानने के लिए SGPT के साथ-साथ SGOT (AST) टेस्ट भी लिखते हैं। इन दोनों को मिलाकर LFT (Liver Function Test) कहा जाता है।
SGPT (जिसे ALT - Alanine Aminotransferase भी कहा जाता है) एक एंजाइम है जो लिवर की कोशिकाओं को भोजन को ऊर्जा में बदलने में मदद करता है। जब लिवर स्वस्थ होता है, तो रक्त (blood) में SGPT का स्तर बहुत कम होता है। लेकिन जब लिवर को कोई नुकसान पहुँचता है या लिवर में सूजन आती है, तो यह एंजाइम लिवर से रिसकर खून में मिल जाता है, जिससे ब्लड रिपोर्ट में SGPT का स्तर बढ़ा हुआ आता है।
आमतौर पर एक स्वस्थ वयस्क पुरुष और महिला के रक्त में SGPT की सामान्य सीमा (Normal Range) 7 से 56 Units per Liter (U/L) के बीच होती है। (यह अलग-अलग लैब के अनुसार थोड़ी बदल सकती है)।
थोड़ा सा बढ़ा हुआ SGPT आम बात हो सकती है (जैसे फैटी लिवर के कारण), लेकिन अगर यह नॉर्मल रेंज से 10 गुना या उससे अधिक बढ़ा हुआ है, तो यह गंभीर लिवर डैमेज का संकेत हो सकता है और तुरंत डॉक्टर से मिलना चाहिए।
