प्रकाश संश्लेषण (Photosynthesis) वह प्रक्रिया है जिसके द्वारा पृथ्वी पर मौजूद हरे पौधे अपना भोजन स्वयं बनाते हैं। यह कक्षा 10 जीव विज्ञान (जैव प्रक्रम) का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण विषय है।
पृथ्वी के वायुमंडल में मौजूद लगभग सभी ऑक्सीजन प्रकाश संश्लेषण की ही देन है। इसी प्रक्रिया के कारण जीवन संभव है।
हरे पौधों द्वारा सूर्य के प्रकाश (Sunlight) और क्लोरोफिल (Chlorophyll) की उपस्थिति में, कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड (CO₂) और जल (H₂O) का उपयोग करके अपना भोजन (ग्लूकोज़) बनाने की प्रक्रिया को प्रकाश संश्लेषण कहते हैं। इस प्रक्रिया में ऑक्सीजन (O₂) गैस बाहर निकलती है।

मुख्य रूप से **पत्तियाँ (Leaves)** प्रकाश संश्लेषण करती हैं, क्योंकि इनमें क्लोरोप्लास्ट (Chloroplast) होता है। इसलिए पत्तियों को पौधे की 'फूड फैक्ट्री' कहा जाता है।
