Ductile Meaning in Hindi (Chemistry)

Ductility is a specific physical property of metals. It is the amazing ability of a solid metal to be aggressively stretched, pulled, and drawn out into extremely thin, long wires without snapping or breaking. For example, if you take a thick block of copper and pull it through a machine, it stretches into the thin copper wires used inside the electrical cables of your house. Because it can do this, copper is a highly ductile metal.

The absolute king of ductility is Gold (Au). Gold is so unbelievably ductile that a single tiny gram of gold (which is smaller than a pea) can be physically stretched into a microscopic wire that is over 2 kilometers long without breaking!

Students constantly confuse these two properties:

• Ductile (तन्य): The ability to be pulled into a thin WIRE (like copper wire).
• Malleable (अघातवर्ध्य): The ability to be hammered or beaten flat into a thin SHEET without shattering (like Aluminum foil wrapped around your lunch). Note: Non-metals (like coal or sulfur) are neither ductile nor malleable. If you pull or hammer them, they instantly shatter into dust (they are Brittle).
