What does 'Made in PRC' mean and what is Maida made from?

If you look at the back of your smartphone, toys, or electronics, you might see the label 'Made in PRC'.

• The Full Form: PRC stands for the People's Republic of China.
• Why use PRC?: It is the exact same thing as saying 'Made in China'. In recent years, because the 'Made in China' label was often associated with cheap or low-quality goods, many manufacturers started using the official legal name (PRC) to avoid the negative stigma and make the label sound more professional.

Maida, often called Refined Wheat Flour or All-Purpose Flour, is heavily used in India to make naan, bhaturas, momos, biscuits, and cakes.

• The Source: Maida is made entirely from Wheat.
• How is it different from Atta?: Whole wheat grain has three parts: the bran (outer skin rich in fiber), the germ (nutrient core), and the endosperm (starchy middle). While regular Atta (whole wheat flour) is made by grinding all three parts, Maida is made by completely removing the healthy bran and germ, and grinding only the starchy endosperm.
• Why is it white?: After grinding, the flour is heavily bleached using chemicals (like benzoyl peroxide) to give it its pure, bright white color. Because it has no fiber, it is very bad for digestion if eaten daily.
