Largest Church and Largest Union Territory in India

The largest church in India (and one of the largest in Asia) is the Sé Cathedral (Sé Catedral de Santa Catarina).

• Location: It is located in Old Goa.
• History: It was built by the Portuguese to commemorate their victory over a Muslim army, leading to the capture of the city of Goa in 1510.
• Architecture: It is built in the grand Portuguese-Gothic style. The cathedral is famous for its massive size and for housing the 'Golden Bell', known for its rich tone.

The largest Union Territory (UT) in India by geographical area is Ladakh.

• The Change: Before 2019, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands held this title. However, when the state of Jammu & Kashmir was reorganized, the vast, high-altitude desert region of Ladakh was carved out as a separate Union Territory.
• Size: With an area of roughly 59,146 sq km, Ladakh is by far the largest UT, despite having a very small population.
• Smallest UT: For comparison, Lakshadweep is the smallest Union Territory in India.
