My Hobby Essay in English

My favourite hobby is reading. I love to read books of all kinds — adventure stories, history books, science magazines, and novels. Reading is my way of travelling to different worlds without leaving my room.

Every evening, after finishing my homework, I spend at least 30 minutes reading. My bookshelf has over 50 books, and every month I try to read at least two new ones. My favourite authors include Ruskin Bond, R.K. Narayan, and Roald Dahl.

Reading has improved my vocabulary, grammar, and general knowledge. It has taught me about different cultures and ideas. More importantly, it has given me a rich inner world that I carry everywhere I go.

My hobby is playing cricket. Every evening, my friends and I gather in the playground to play cricket. I am our team's fast bowler and love the thrill of taking wickets.

Cricket has taught me important life lessons. I have learned to work as a team, to play fairly, and to accept wins and losses with grace. I have also become physically fit and energetic.

I watch cricket matches on television and follow the Indian cricket team with great enthusiasm. I admire players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their dedication and sportsmanship.

I hope one day I can represent my school and district in cricket tournaments.

My Hobby — Drawing and Painting

Of all the activities I enjoy, drawing and painting bring me the greatest joy. Ever since I was four years old, I have been drawing on every piece of paper I could find — from notebooks to walls (much to my mother's frustration!).

My hobby started with simple pencil sketches of cartoons and animals. Over the years, I have learned to work with watercolours, oil paints, and charcoal. My favourite subjects to paint are landscapes — rolling hills, misty forests, and sunsets reflected on water.

Painting is my way of seeing the world differently. When I sit down with a blank canvas and a brush, I enter a state of total peace. Time seems to stop. Every painting is a challenge: how do I capture exactly the way light falls on those leaves? How do I mix colours to get that particular shade of orange in the sky?

My art teacher, Ms. Divya, has been a wonderful guide. She has taught me perspective, shading, and colour theory. Under her guidance, I have won prizes in the school art competition twice.

I hope to study Fine Arts someday and eventually have my own art exhibition. Art is not just my hobby — it is my voice, my peace, and my passion.
