Diary Entry Format and Example (Class 9)

A diary entry must include the following elements, aligned to the left side of the page:

1. Day and Date (e.g., Monday, 15 April 2024)
2. Time (e.g., 9:30 PM - usually written at night)
3. Salutation (e.g., Dear Diary,)
4. Body / Content (Write in First Person 'I'. Express your personal feelings, usually in 100-120 words).
5. Sign-off / Name (Your first name).

Topic: Write a diary entry expressing your feelings after winning the inter-school debate competition.

Dear Diary,

Today was undoubtedly one of the best days of my life! I am still trembling with excitement as I write this. I won the first prize in the inter-school debate competition held at City Town Hall.

When I reached the venue this morning, I was extremely nervous seeing participants from over twenty schools. However, when my turn came to speak on 'The Impact of AI', my confidence returned. I spoke fluently and countered all the arguments flawlessly. When the judges announced my name as the winner, my parents and teachers erupted in applause. My father hugged me, and I could see tears of pride in his eyes. It made all my late-night preparations totally worth it.

I am so happy and tired now. I am going to sleep with a big smile on my face.
