इस विचारधारा के अनुसार, देश की सभी संपत्तियों, कारखानों, ज़मीन और संसाधनों पर किसी एक अमीर व्यक्ति या प्राइवेट कंपनी का अधिकार नहीं होना चाहिए। इसके बजाय, इन सभी चीज़ों पर सरकार (या पूरे समाज) का अधिकार होना चाहिए। सरकार ही तय करेगी कि क्या उत्पादन करना है और उसे जनता के बीच कैसे बांटना है, ताकि कोई बहुत अमीर और कोई बहुत गरीब न रहे।

समाजवाद और पूंजीवाद में अंतर (Socialism vs Capitalism)

पूंजीवाद (Capitalism): इसमें देश के उद्योग और कारखाने प्राइवेट कंपनियों (जैसे अंबानी, टाटा, या विदेशी कंपनियों) के हाथ में होते हैं। इनका मुख्य उद्देश्य ज्यादा से ज्यादा मुनाफा (Profit) कमाना होता है। (उदाहरण: अमेरिका)।
